Each year, the members of the Shawnee Heights Fire District nominate members for the firefighter of the year. They then vote on the nominee. Tyler Ingram was chosen as the 2018 Firefighter of the year. Tyler Ingram is currently a relief firefighter and EMT and has served the patrons of Shawnee Heights Fire District since 2015. Tyler is also a full time firefighter and police officer with the Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority. Tyler was born and raised in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 2012. Tyler attended classes at both Washburn University and the University of Kansas, but left school to pursue a career in the fire service. Tyler has been one of the stars in the fire prevention skit for the last two years. He has responded on many calls and attended several training classes and drills during the year. Tyler worked extra hard to become one of our relief qualified part time members and is now capable of working 24 hour shifts. Tyler is especially gifted when it comes to giving station tours to neighborhood children and scout groups. He always displays a positive attitude and is a great representative of our fire department.
