Danny Rees has retired after 39 years of service to the Topeka- Tecumseh and Shawnee Heights Fire District. Danny started with the Fire District on March 25th 1982 as a part time firefighter.  Danny had previous experience with the Lecompton Fire Department.  Danny started as a full time Duty Officer ( Lt.) with the District on February 18, 1986. Danny was promoted to Captain in 1988. Danny was instrumental in implementing and overseeing the department inspection program for many years. Danny left full time employment in 2008 but did remain as a part time and relief officer until his recent retirement.

Danny saw many changes in the district during his years of service such as the addition of Monmouth Township in 2006 and the name change from Topeka-Tecumseh to Shawnee Heights. He watched the district grow from two stations to four stations.  One of Danny’s most memorable fires was a pipeline rupture and fire on old Us 75 highway now Topeka Blvd.

We want to wish Danny and his wife Pam a great retirement and thank them both for his many years of dedication and service to the Shawnee Heights community.
